Senior Software Engineer – Platform, AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage the agentic harness that powers Bloomerang engineering, including agent workflows, tool and model integrations, orchestration, and the infrastructure that ensures reliable and safe AI-driven development.

• Leverage the throughput unlocked by AI-driven development to ensure timely delivery—release minimum viable increments, gather genuine customer feedback, conduct A/B tests, assess what has been shipped, and refine until it significantly impacts nonprofits.

• Oversee cross-functional AI-platform issues while standardizing prompt and context pipelines and streamlining local development environments across our products and teams.

• Continuously assess new models, AI tools, harnesses, and methodologies—conducting thorough evaluations and converting successful candidates into standardized tools that the entire organization can depend on.

• Design, construct, and manage backend services crucial to our platform—in the short term, focusing on our authentication chain (centralized authentication and session management), progressing towards a unified identity solution, primarily in C#/.NET.

• Identify and resolve complex technical challenges across distributed services and the AI tools built on top of them.

• Enhance engineering standards, automation, developer tools, and the AI harness utilized by the team.

• Assist the team in delivering work in a continuous-flow (Kanban) model.

• Utilize your expertise to influence our software and delivery tools—elevating engineering standards, promoting teaching and learning within the organization, and helping us deliver superior products for the nonprofits we support.

• Proactively investigate, integrate, and help steer the responsible application of AI within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Authentic AI fluency and practical experience in building with AI—agents, tools, harnesses, prompt and context pipelines, or evaluations—not merely using AI for faster coding.

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience in building and managing production services—or equivalent proven expertise.

• Strong proficiency in C#/.NET is preferred but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with the agentic-tooling ecosystem (model APIs, MCP, LLM orchestration) is a significant advantage.

• Experience with foundational platforms or distributed systems; knowledge in authentication, identity, security, MFA, SSO, or session management is a plus.

• A self-motivated, senior-level ownership mentality.

• Expertise across a wide array of frameworks, languages, databases, and tools; strength in C#/.NET is ideal, and familiarity with Python/TypeScript, which is common in agentic tooling, is a plus.

• A collaborative approach while working with Product, DevOps, and across Engineering to address extensive infrastructure and platform challenges.
