Senior Software Engineer – New Markets

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• Create a highly scalable, mission-critical brokerage platform.

• Develop and improve middle- and back-office systems, including gRPC microservices, a React-based user interface, and integrations with third-party vendors.

• Collaborate with core teams to enhance frameworks that support multiple languages, currencies, and markets.

• Coordinate with regional tech leads both synchronously and asynchronously through Slack and occasional meetings outside of standard hours.

• Address incidents and reported bugs to ensure system integrity and performance.

• Navigate regulatory requirements while building scalable solutions to support international expansion.

• Act as the operational reliability and engineering lead, as well as the incident commander during regional business hours.

• Assist with regional recruitment efforts, cross-functional initiatives, talent mentoring, and promoting Alpaca culture.

• Engage in on-call support for timely engineering projects.

• Proficiency in Go or similar backend programming languages.

• Expertise in designing robust and efficient system architectures.

• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with global teams, regulators, vendors, and stakeholders.

• Capability to serve as incident commander, leading and troubleshooting incidents and bugs.

• Strong foundation in computer science principles.

• Demonstrated experience in software engineering architecture.

• Ability to work autonomously in a fully remote, globally distributed team, even under pressure.

• Strategic mindset with the ability to translate technical concepts into business strategies.

• Experience with event-driven design methodologies.
