This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Create a highly scalable and mission-critical brokerage platform.
• Develop and improve middle- and back-office systems, which include gRPC microservices, a React-based user interface for internal administration and API developers, as well as third-party vendor integrations.
• Collaborate with core teams to advance and transform the main framework for various languages, currencies, and markets.
• Work in sync and asynchronously with tech leads from other regions, including occasional meetings outside of standard working hours.
• Diagnose incidents and reported bugs to ensure system integrity and performance.
• Navigate through regulatory standards and create scalable solutions that support international expansion.
• Engage in on-call support for prompt engineering projects.
• Lead regional recruitment efforts, contribute to cross-functional projects, mentor engineering talent, and promote the Alpaca culture in the region.
• Act as the operational reliability and engineering lead, as well as incident commander during regional business hours, ensuring proactive 24x7 stability.
• Design and implement software solutions that align with strategic goals.
• Proficient in Go or comparable backend programming languages.
• Expertise in designing robust and efficient system architectures.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with global teams, local regulators, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Capability to act as an incident commander, leading and troubleshooting incidents or bugs.
• Solid foundation in computer science principles.
• Demonstrated experience in software engineering architecture.
• Ability to work autonomously within a fully remote, globally distributed team and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to convert technical concepts into business strategies.
• Familiarity with event-driven design.
• Nice-to-have: experience with AI tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.
