Senior Software Engineer – Mobile Connectivity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance Android applications specifically for smart locking systems.

• Develop features for door unlocking, data synchronization, and firmware updates via BLE and NFC.

• Create efficient communication protocols and mechanisms for data transfer.

• Contribute to various products, including the flagship Latch/Door Android application and its companion iOS application.

• Collaborate closely with firmware engineers and backend developers.

• Investigate and resolve intricate issues encountered in the field.

• Engage hands-on with firmware and hardware tools.

• Analyze and improve the performance of Bluetooth and NFC interactions.

• Ensure the mobile connectivity stack remains resilient against interruptions.

• Guide and mentor fellow engineers on best practices related to wireless connectivity.

• Keep abreast of the latest features in the Android SDK and trends within the IoT industry.

• Prototype and integrate new technologies to sustain a competitive advantage.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

• At least two (2) years of professional experience in Software Engineering with a focus on mobile connectivity and IoT products.

• Proficiency in Android SDK development utilizing Kotlin and Java.

• Experience in designing and implementing BLE GATT communications.

• Familiarity with Near Field Communication (NFC) integration.

• Understanding of Android architecture patterns such as MVVM, MVI, and Clean Architecture.

• Expertise in asynchronous programming using Coroutines and RxJava.

• Experience working in collaboration with hardware and firmware teams.

• Skills in troubleshooting device communication using BLE sniffers, logic analyzers, and firmware logs.

• Knowledge of dependency injection frameworks (Hilt).

• Background in unit testing, integration testing, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Valid legal authorization to work in the United States.
