Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Overseeing the design and execution of high-quality, user-focused features utilizing contemporary frontend technologies.

• Partnering with engineers, designers, and data scientists to investigate problem domains, establish technical solutions, and achieve significant results.

• Steering frontend architecture choices that enhance scalability, maintainability, performance, accessibility, and developer experience.

• Guiding engineers through technical support, code assessments, collaborative coding, and knowledge sharing, while promoting a culture of continuous learning.

• Advocating for software engineering best practices, including testing, CI/CD, observability, and optimization of frontend performance.

• Collaborating closely with backend engineers to design APIs, integrate services, and ensure smooth end-to-end user experiences.

• Actively participating throughout the software development lifecycle while consistently enhancing engineering processes, tools, and development methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience, particularly in developing modern web applications.

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript.

• Extensive experience in constructing complex applications using React and state management libraries such as Redux or equivalent.

• In-depth knowledge of HTML, CSS, responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), and current frontend development practices.

• Solid grasp of frontend architecture, design patterns, and the ability to write high-performing, maintainable, and scalable client-side applications.

• Experience in integrating frontend applications with RESTful APIs and other backend services.

• Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and familiarity with GitHub, GitLab, or similar tools.

• Significant experience in implementing automated testing throughout the testing pyramid, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

• Exceptional communication skills with experience in mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction within a team.

• Highly desirable: Experience in developing backend services using technologies such as Node.js, Kotlin, Python, or similar.

• Experience in designing RESTful APIs and working with service-oriented or event-driven architectures.

• Understanding of distributed systems and asynchronous messaging patterns.

• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native application development.

• Experience in building AI-powered or data-intensive applications.

• Familiarity with charting and visualization libraries such as Highcharts or D3.

• Experience with observability, monitoring, and production operations.

• Proven track record of leading technical initiatives or driving architectural evolution within engineering teams.
