This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +1 more state.
• Develop high-performance, asynchronous, low-latency code capable of managing substantial, non-blocking throughput on a single machine.
• Investigate memory profiles, identify GC pressure, minimize allocations, and create highly concurrent event-driven architectures.
• Construct and enhance complex asynchronous execution patterns, ensuring optimal thread efficiency and minimal latency overhead across extensive workloads.
• Design, implement, and maintain intricate, scalable, and high-performance systems with an emphasis on non-blocking architectures and highly efficient, maintainable code.
• Proactively reduce memory allocations and GC pressure by utilizing profiling tools and advanced allocation methodologies.
• Detect and resolve production issues, performing low-level root cause analysis and applying solutions to guarantee stringent system reliability.
• Evaluate and convey the architectural trade-offs associated with various design decisions.
• A demonstrated history of working in performance-critical fields, particularly with heavy data streams or real-time processing.
• Practical experience with asynchronous, event-driven, or multi-threaded programming. You have a deep understanding of how non-blocking I/O operates internally and how to sidestep common concurrency challenges.
• You possess a comprehensive understanding of data structures beyond mere recognition; you can articulate how computers process them fundamentally. You can easily explain memory layout, cache locality, and the algorithmic trade-offs of selecting one structure over another from foundational principles.
• Quickly identify and articulate strategies for managing large, fixed memory blocks (e.g., bitmap allocators, free lists) and alleviating memory fragmentation.
• Proficient in bit manipulation and pointer/offset arithmetic, capable of calculating the precise metadata and memory overhead of your own code segments.
• A compelling narrative about a time you employed a memory or CPU profiler to identify a low-level bottleneck and resolved it with a non-obvious, structural solution.
• At least 4 years of professional experience primarily focused in performance-oriented environments using C++, C, Rust, C#, or Java.
• Medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance
• 401(k) retirement savings with company match
• An employee stock purchase plan
• An employee referral program
• Flexible spending accounts
• An Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
• Education assistance
• Parental leave
• Paid time off (PTO)
• Company-paid holidays
• Health and wellness events
• Community programs
