Senior Software Engineer, Insurance Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Work collaboratively with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to identify and extract property attributes using regular expressions, large language models, or alternative methods.

• Assist in the development and upkeep of backend services by writing clean and thoroughly tested code, while adopting Porch Engineering best practices.

• Engage in code reviews and technical discussions, actively seeking feedback and gaining insights from more seasoned team members.

• Undertake clearly defined tasks and complete them within a reasonable timeframe, effectively communicating status and progress to the team.

• Acquire knowledge of the primary services and tools utilized by the team and learn to navigate the microservices architecture and cloud infrastructure.

• Adhere to established patterns and frameworks while cultivating your engineering judgment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or four years of equivalent professional experience).

• Over 5 years of experience in software development.

• Strong proficiency with SQL, preferably PostgreSQL.

• Experience with production JVM languages, ideally Scala.

• Familiarity with concepts in data science, data labeling, or information extraction.

• Knowledge of terminology and concepts related to property inspections, real estate assessments, or home condition reporting.

• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), event-driven systems (Kafka), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), or CI/CD pipelines.

• Proven track record of collaborating with US-based business teams.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Must currently reside in or be located within 150 km of Greater Delhi NCR, Greater Bangalore, or Greater Pune.
