Senior Software Engineer II, Infra Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and implement new cloud infrastructure to support high-performance SaaS applications globally in the cloud.

• Lead the development of infrastructure features from design documentation through to implementation, rollout, and operational management.

• Create and deliver observability tools while analyzing data, collaborating with the application development team to ensure an exceptional customer experience.

• Continue to enhance automation for infrastructure provisioning, developer productivity, and internal tooling effectiveness.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to expedite Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, code reviews, and on-call processes, while upholding a high standard for security, accuracy, and review practices.

• Mentor other engineers and participate in team-wide architectural decisions.

• Provide support to customer service and sales teams with technical inquiries related to the Optro application.

• Ensure the reliability of our production systems to surpass SLA requirements, including involvement in an on-call rotation for production issues.

• Assist in defining internal Service Level Objectives and Service Level Indicators for the Infrastructure Engineering team to enhance reliability.

• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers; effectively give and receive feedback in a dynamic environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software development experience, with a proven history of advancing projects from conception to production.

• Strong software development foundation with significant expertise in at least one programming language (Go, Python, TypeScript, or similar).

• Experience with Docker and managing container orchestration systems (Kubernetes preferred).

• Familiarity with cloud service providers (AWS or Azure preferred).

• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code and other cloud automation tools (HashiCorp suite).

• Experience in developing observability tools, dashboards, and alerting systems for monitoring distributed systems.

• Background in designing globally distributed systems within a cloud-based, container-centric environment.

• Skill in crafting clear design documentation and influencing architectural decisions.

• Proficient with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) and sound judgment regarding their application.

• Bonus: Contributions to open-source projects or prior experience defining SLOs/SLIs for production services.
