Senior Software Engineer II – Enterprise Foundations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of multi-quarter integration initiatives from start to finish, encompassing problem identification, design, implementation, rollout, and the deprecation of legacy paths.

• Steer technical direction by creating Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), proposing alternatives, making trade-off choices, and leading design evaluations.

• Manage vendor and cross-team integrations while ensuring observability, fallback behaviors, and establishing cost/latency guardrails.

• Develop reusable patterns, frameworks, templates, documentation for system overviews, and migration runbooks.

• Engage in hands-on work as a senior individual contributor while enhancing design, code quality, observability, and operational standards.

• Mentor junior engineers and delegate tasks while maintaining technical ownership.

• Collaborate with teams such as Connected Stores, Professional Services, Commerce, Search, Data Engineering, and Machine Learning.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in backend software engineering.

• Proven experience managing intricate, multi-quarter projects from inception to completion as a senior individual contributor.

• Capability to serve as the technical Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for cross-team initiatives.

• Experience in designing and delivering distributed systems and production integrations that span multiple services, teams, or external partners.

• Strong expertise in backend technologies such as Ruby/Rails, Python, Go, or similar languages.

• Familiarity with relational databases, distributed data systems, and cloud infrastructures like AWS or GCP.

• Proven ability to create ERDs, design documentation, runbooks, and reusable technical frameworks.

• Capacity to thrive in ambiguous, rapidly growing environments.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
