Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and enhance essential systems for freight brokerage operations and associated services, including quoting, booking, pricing and rate logic, contracts, carrier compliance, facility matching, location/address data quality, and scheduling-focused workflows.

• Spearhead technical projects across multiple Python/Django services, covering design, phased implementation, and safe deprecation—not just limited to individual service features.

• Create and manage user-facing components in the freight brokerage web application (utilizing modern JavaScript/TypeScript and React): including new flows, intricate forms and workflows, performance enhancements, user experience fixes, and backend API integrations, along with backend modifications for full-stack features.

• Propel platform and reliability efforts: database and dependency upgrades, search/indexing modifications, performance optimization (queries, indexing, caching), management of secrets/credentials, and tools to prevent faulty deployments (e.g., migration safety, validation pipelines).

• Deliver high-impact products and revenue initiatives: including pricing and benchmark integrations, compliance/load-registration workflows, feature-flag and segmentation strategies, and scope-shaping that aligns technical design with business objectives.

• Establish engineering standards for the squad and beyond: including ADRs, shared client/integration layers, testing and observability patterns, and a code review culture that emphasizes education (SOLID principles, architecture, thorough pull requests), including shared patterns between API and UI.

• Manage production systems: including incident response, war-room coordination, root-cause analysis, and rapid stabilization pull requests when freight brokerage operations are jeopardized.

• Work closely with product teams on discovery and requirements—defining problems, refining scope with technical alternatives, and occasionally presenting results to senior stakeholders.

• Provide mentorship and elevate teammates through collaboration, design review, and informal leadership, even without formal managerial responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience as a Software Developer.

• Senior full-stack engineer with a proven history of managing ambiguous, multi-step projects from inception to completion across API and UI (design, implementation, rollout, observability), comparable to tech lead-level delivery on mission-critical systems.

• Proficient in Python and Django (or demonstrably strong transferable skills: e.g., extensive professional experience in Java/JVM ecosystems coupled with significant Python web work in production).

• Expertise in PostgreSQL: including schema design, production database migrations, query plans, indexing, and resolving latency/regression issues—not limited to CRUD operations.

• Familiarity with distributed systems and multi-service environments: including async jobs/queues, events, idempotency, integration failures, and debugging across service boundaries.

• Demonstrated impact beyond “greenfield” projects: experience in large or evolving codebases, modernization efforts (framework/DB/search/runtime upgrades), or cost/performance initiatives with measurable outcomes.

• Production-oriented mindset: experience in on-call roles or equivalent, incident response, and prioritizing stability under operational demands.

• Technical leadership demonstrated without reliance on title: examples of leading migrations, integrations, or architectural decisions; mentoring; and aligning engineers across teams.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills: producing design documents, ADRs, RFCs, or review threads that other engineers reference.

• Preferred experience in frontend development with TypeScript and React: including component design, state and data management, forms and validation, testing, and debugging within a substantial product codebase—capable of delivering meaningful enhancements to the freight brokerage web application, beyond minor adjustments.
