
Senior Software Engineer, Firefox Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden.
• Enhance the security architecture and cryptographic framework of Firefox: Engage in the advancement of Firefox's core security systems, emphasizing cryptographic protocols, WebPKI, and security-critical web APIs. Assist in the implementation and upkeep of security features that facilitate the development of public key infrastructure on the web.
• Design and implement web platform security features: Collaborate with colleagues and the wider web community to develop and deliver web platform features. Contribute to secure, standards-compliant, and interoperable implementations across Firefox.
• Boost browser reliability, performance, and resource efficiency: Investigate and resolve issues that affect stability, correctness, and performance. Assess and enhance memory usage and efficiency within a complex, multi-threaded browser setting.
• Collaborate on security initiatives: Work together with engineers from various teams to identify, prioritize, and tackle security challenges. Engage in debugging, root cause analysis, and the implementation of effective long-term solutions.
• Participate in technical design and planning: Take part in technical discussions, design evaluations, and project planning related to security initiatives. Aid in assessing trade-offs and contribute to engineering decisions within your domain of expertise.
• Strong software engineering and security fundamentals: Experience in software engineering with proficiency in C/C++ and a robust understanding of security principles, including cryptographic protocols and their implementations.
• Experience in building and maintaining complex software systems: Capability to contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of software in large-scale or security-sensitive settings.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills: Expertise in diagnosing and resolving issues in multi-threaded, cross-platform native applications, particularly those related to performance and memory.
• Collaborative and effective communicator: Ability to work efficiently with distributed teams, clearly communicate technical concepts, and collaboratively solve problems.
• Growth mindset and willingness to learn: Proven curiosity and a desire to enhance knowledge in browser security, cryptography, and systems programming while continually improving engineering abilities.
• Experience with web platforms and modern systems: Familiarity with web technologies and interest or experience in Rust. Comfortable navigating large, complex, multi-language codebases.
