Senior Software Engineer – Energy Markets

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance backend services for VPP operations and energy market integrations.

• Architect systems that sit at the crossroads of backend and data processing pipelines.

• Lead technical discussions and support fellow engineers in making architectural decisions.

• Operate across the realms of data engineering, backend engineering, and energy market sectors.

• Collaborate with product managers, data engineers, and data scientists across various teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in creating scalable backend solutions using TypeScript.

• Fundamental knowledge of data engineering — constructing systems that integrate backend and data processing.

• Practical experience with energy service interfaces such as smart meters, optimization, and load balancing.

• Strong understanding of architectural patterns, CI/CD (GitHub Actions), and cloud infrastructure (preferably GCP).

• Capability to steer architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate across different domains.

• Enthusiasm for writing maintainable, well-documented, and testable code.

• Bonus points for:

• Experience in developing infrastructure for virtual power plants and energy market integrations.

• Proficiency in Python and BigQuery within Data Engineering or Machine Learning contexts.

• IoT experience related to grid balancing and demand response initiatives.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code principles (Terraform).

• Knowledge of energy market APIs (EPEX Spot, Montel).
