Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conceive, develop, and sustain full-stack software to enhance Cross River's data platform.

• Create and manage AI-native functionalities: LLM-driven agents and reasoning loops, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) using the data catalog, and natural-language-to-SQL query interfaces.

• Integrate large language models responsibly, ensuring thorough permission checks, tracking, and observability for every model invocation.

• Serve as a diligent and responsible data steward, prioritizing robust data security.

• Develop React-based web user interfaces that effectively present intricate data (catalogs, lineage, dashboards, and conversational interfaces) in a clear and accessible manner.

• Create and maintain Python back-end systems that support APIs and connect with the data platform and related systems.

• Engage with AWS services and technologies, including Lake Formation, Glue, Iceberg, Hive, Athena, ECS, and Snowflake.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across UIs, APIs, agents, and data pipelines.

• Collaborate with fellow software engineers, data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to meet business, security, and operational requirements.

• Effectively manage code and versioning using Git and contribute to architectural discussions on product and platform designs.

• Uphold best practices in development, testing, and documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong emphasis on full-stack web and API development.

• Proficient front-end skills utilizing React and TypeScript.

• Strong back-end and API development capabilities in Python.

• Practical experience with large language models, including integration of LLM APIs, agents, RAG, or other AI-enhanced application features.

• Demonstrated expertise in AWS cloud environments (ECS, IAM, S3, and data services like Glue, Athena, or Lake Formation).

• Solid background in relational databases and SQL, along with proficiency in Git for version control and review processes.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a passion for delivering functional, efficient, and operationally reliable solutions.
