Principal Software Engineer, MDR Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Co-manage and sustain various Golang applications that constitute the foundation of our MDR platform.

• Enhance and maintain a high-performance log analytics engine that analyzes events from numerous sources across hundreds of clients.

• Improve and sustain applications that convert engine output into actionable insights for SOC analysts.

• Oversee and upgrade a multi-tenant server cluster that collects, buffers, and transmits syslog-formatted logs to the engine.

• Maintain and enhance a cross-platform syslog agent responsible for delivering syslog-formatted logs to the engine.

• Design and uphold a cross-platform security agent that offers visibility into and secures customer endpoints and servers.

• Make architectural choices for various applications that support business objectives.

• Shape technical design discussions and participate in code reviews.

• Mentor and guide fellow development team members.

• Facilitate knowledge transfer during transitional phases, assisting with training and recruitment as required.

• Develop and uphold internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for software development.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deploy new features.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of software engineering experience, with at least 4 years dedicated to Go development.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent level of practical experience.

• A portfolio showcasing delivered production systems and/or contributions to open-source projects.

• Proficient in idiomatic Golang with a strong understanding of the standard library and package ecosystem.

• Expertise in managing goroutine lifecycles and utilizing channel-based communication.

• Essential use of context for managing deadlines, timeouts, and structured cancellations.

• Proven ability to implement thread-safe data structures and effective methods for managing shared state.

• Mastery of Go paradigms and constructs, including interfaces and generics, to create modular code.

• Experience with implementing worker pool patterns for handling resource-intensive tasks.

• Profound knowledge of memory management, including reducing heap allocation, runtime profiling for memory leak identification, and pre-allocating buffer memory.

• Familiarity with using GitHub Actions for continuous deployment of Docker containers on cloud platforms like AWS ECS or EC2, or their equivalents.

• Strong proficiency in interfacing with Redis, OpenSearch or similar, and SQL databases, with a focus on optimizing queries for performance and atomicity.

• Comprehensive understanding of networking protocols, TLS, and firewalls, alongside practical experience in applying best practices at the application level.

• Proficient in Git version control and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience with automated testing, infrastructure monitoring, and observability practices.

• Experience utilizing AI assistant tools for software development, such as Claude Code.
