Senior Software Engineer – Data Integration, JVM Ecosystem

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• In the role of a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on JVM-based frameworks, you will be a key contributor, responsible for owning and maintaining essential components of ClickHouse's Data engineering ecosystem.

• You will manage the entire lifecycle of data framework integrations—from the core database driver capable of processing billions of records per second, to SDKs and connectors that ensure ClickHouse integrates seamlessly with JVM-based applications.

• Your contributions will have a direct effect on how organizations handle vast datasets, ranging from real-time analytics platforms processing millions of events per second to observability systems tracking worldwide infrastructure.

• You will work closely with the open-source community, internal teams, and enterprise users to guarantee that our JVM integrations establish benchmarks for performance, reliability, and developer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of software development experience concentrating on creating and delivering high-quality, data-intensive solutions.

• Strong expertise in Java and the JVM ecosystem, including a comprehensive understanding of memory management, garbage collection tuning, and performance profiling.

• Solid background in concurrent programming in Java, encompassing threads, executors, and reactive or asynchronous patterns.

• Experience in developing, extending, or working with connectors, sinks, or sources for at least one big data processing framework such as Apache Spark, Flink, Beam, or Kafka Connect.

• A strong grasp of database fundamentals, including SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and familiarity with OLAP/analytical databases.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration within the team and across engineering functions.

• A passion for open-source development, actively engaging with the OSS community, advocating for users, and influencing the evolution of the core system through your contributions.
