Senior Software Engineer, Core Reliability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the design and implementation of reliability projects and features that enhance resiliency within Coinbase's service environment, collaborating closely with other engineering teams.

• Work alongside essential T0/T1 services to gain insights into architecture, boost scalability, and minimize operational workload.

• Develop and improve systems that securely handle service configurations and secrets at scale.

• Enhance canary-based release strategies and broaden deployment capabilities to accommodate thousands of services and hundreds of daily deployments while minimizing incidents.

• Promote reliability best practices and reinforce a culture of reliability among engineering teams at Coinbase.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, focusing on the design, development, and maintenance of production services within service-oriented architectures, with proficiency in Ruby, Go, Terraform, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Proven capability to design and manage reliable, high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems at scale, accompanied by a history of writing well-tested, production-quality code.

• Established experience with observability and monitoring tools (such as Kibana and Datadog) for diagnosing intricate production challenges, optimizing system performance, and decreasing incident rates.

• Experience in articulating and documenting architectural decisions to cross-functional engineering stakeholders, both in writing and verbally.

• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and address issues during non-business hours.

• Responsible use of generative AI, ensuring human oversight to provide business-ready outcomes and drive measurable enhancements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
