Senior Software Engineer – Blockchain Network

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the design and implementation of blockchain network infrastructure that simplifies blockchain complexity into dependable platform APIs.

• Spearhead initiatives spanning multiple quarters, including new chain integrations, re-architecture projects, and data migrations aimed at enhancing system latency, reliability, and cost efficiency.

• Define and uphold APIs, SLOs, and observability for the systems you develop, including on-call responsibilities.

• Collaborate with product and platform teams to establish data contracts and deliver SDKs and platform primitives that promote adoption throughout Coinbase.

• Acquire in-depth technical knowledge across various leading blockchain protocols (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum) and leverage that expertise to streamline cross-chain operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, with a proven record of ownership over production services within a service-oriented architecture.

• Established history of designing, scaling, and maintaining distributed systems that manage high-throughput, low-latency workloads.

• Practical experience with at least two of the following technologies: Golang, Kafka, Redis, MongoDB, or equivalent infrastructure tools.

• Direct involvement with blockchain protocols or crypto infrastructure (e.g., integrating with Ethereum, Bitcoin, or other similar L1/L2 networks).

• Proven ability to break down complex systems (monoliths, legacy architectures) into well-defined microservices with clear API contracts.

• Employs generative AI in a responsible manner, ensuring human oversight to produce business-ready outputs that drive measurable enhancements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
