Senior Software Engineer, Biometric Authentication

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Estonia.

📋 Description

• Taking ownership of the design and progression of the architecture for a crucial product area, making decisions that will influence scalability, security, and maintainability for years to come.

• Leading transformative architectural initiatives: implementing real-time matching at scale, creating resilient event-driven services, and establishing the CI/CD and observability foundations that ensure their reliability.

• Setting and elevating engineering standards while mentoring and nurturing the engineers around you.

• Collaborating closely with fellow engineers, ML data scientists, and specialists to transform intricate identity challenges into functional products, and fostering cross-functional alignment with product and dependency teams.

• Developing scalable and maintainable APIs and event-driven services that are vital for other teams and external customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Prior experience in building and managing large-scale applications (preferably using Python).

• In-depth knowledge of distributed systems, modular design, and SOLID principles, with a proven history of architectural ownership.

• Experience in creating scalable and maintainable APIs and familiarity with message-queuing concepts.

• Proficiency in CI/CD, monitoring, and understanding what is necessary to run reliable, high-throughput services in a production environment.

• Comfort with various testing strategies to ensure robust and dependable software.

• A foundational understanding of relational databases and structured logging systems.

• Strong communication and influencing abilities, enabling alignment between engineers and non-engineers around a technical vision.

• A self-motivated approach that balances both technical and product considerations to achieve a well-rounded outcome for both customers and engineers.

• A track record of mentoring engineers and simplifying your solutions for non-engineers.
