Senior Mobile Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the advisor mobile application, including the native shell, hybrid surfaces, embedded web views, and the Rails APIs that support them.

• Deliver a functional app to advisors as quickly as possible by releasing working components every week throughout the development process.

• Develop and enhance the Rails APIs that the application relies on, instead of waiting for others to define them.

• Improve the foundational aspects the team will rely on by creating the build and release pipeline, managing the app store process, handling crash reporting, and being on-call for mobile issues.

• Define the hybrid and web-view patterns that two advisor teams and a new designer can utilize for future development.

• Monitor your app in production to identify and resolve issues before they impact advisors.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in mobile ownership: You have personally launched a mobile app on the App Store and/or Play Store and have maintained its performance post-launch.

• Full-stack proficiency: You are adept at developing both the backend and the user interface.

• Practical approach to tools: You have experience with both native and hybrid solutions, and you are capable of determining when an embedded web view is the most suitable option.

• Strong initiative: You have successfully tackled ambiguous and under-defined challenges, driving them to a successful conclusion without direct management.

• AI integration in your workflow: You can provide specific instances where AI has enhanced your work efficiency, demonstrating the ability to critically assess its outputs rather than adopting them without scrutiny.

• Bonus: Familiarity with Ruby on Rails or a similar MVC backend framework.

• Experience in establishing a mobile app and its release process from the ground up.

• A background in a smaller company or startup where you were responsible for a complete product surface.

• Developed consumer or professional tool applications where reliability and attention to detail were crucial.
