This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable systems for synthetic identities, test data seeding, mocking, load testing, and deterministic validation workflows.
• Assist in evolving Affirm’s testing strategy from a predominantly E2E validation approach to a more scalable model that emphasizes stronger component, integration, contract, performance, and targeted E2E testing.
• Create platform capabilities that enhance the safety, repeatability, and ease of operation for production-like load testing.
• Enhance our testing platform to ensure it is reliable, observable, and more accessible for other teams to utilize.
• Collaborate with product engineering and infrastructure teams to enhance test signal quality, minimize false failures, and facilitate quicker validation cycles.
• Lead medium to large-scale technical projects from vague problem definitions through to design, implementation, rollout, and operational management.
• Boost reliability and operational maturity through dashboards, SLOs, alerts, runbooks, and well-defined ownership models.
• Decrease manual operational workloads associated with load testing, including test data creation, environment setup, reporting, and failure diagnostics.
• Produce high-quality, maintainable code that is easily comprehensible and extendable by other team members.
• Contribute to technical specifications, RFCs, ADRs, project plans, and other asynchronous artifacts that unify teams around technical decisions.
• Review code and technical designs, offer constructive feedback, and help elevate engineering standards.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of practical testing excellence.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong backend engineering experience with Python, Kotlin, Java, or similar programming languages.
• Experience in designing, building, and operating distributed systems, platform infrastructure, internal developer tools, or testing infrastructure.
• Proven ownership and capability to independently drive ambiguous technical projects to successful completion.
• Experience in enhancing system reliability, observability, operational maturity, and maintainability.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering teams and influence technical direction through effective communication.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in asynchronous artifacts such as technical specifications, RFCs, ADRs, and project plans.
• Strong foundation in engineering principles related to system design, testing, debugging, reliability, and production operations.
• Operational ownership of essential internal testing platforms, focusing on reliability, observability, alerting, runbooks, and incident readiness.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks, test data systems, mocks, contract testing, integration testing, load testing, and CI/CD platforms.
• Ability to balance pragmatic delivery with long-term technical quality.
