This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Design, develop, test, document, and deploy high-quality, scalable systems.
• Create features and tools utilized by the engineering team.
• Engage in on-call rotation and resolve software issues.
• Escalate tasks or projects facing obstacles.
• Take part in code reviews and share knowledge.
• Contribute to team planning and design discussions.
• Enhance software quality, customer experience, testability, operational excellence metrics, and team documentation.
• Assist in defining and adhering to engineering principles, guidelines, and best practices.
• Cultivate an understanding of the sports betting, ecommerce, collectibles, and platform products and roadmap.
• Collaborate with product teams and internal stakeholders on technology decisions.
• Onboard and mentor junior engineers and interns.
• Stay updated with software development technologies and trends.
• Participate in occasional travel to Fanatics offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities.
• Over 5 years of experience in building highly scalable, performance-oriented, and adaptable backend distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Spring with Kotlin and/or Java is advantageous.
• Proven ability to advocate for best practices in backend development and mentor others in effective coding and architectural approaches, including clean code, hexagonal/layered architectures, domain-driven design, and additional design and architectural patterns.
• Familiarity with observability practices, encompassing logging, monitoring, and tracing in distributed systems.
• Expertise in Agile software delivery, with a successful history of modeling and implementing process improvements across teams.
• Capability to collaborate cross-functionally within diverse teams in large enterprise environments, fostering alignment and shared success.
• Exceptional communication skills, able to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to varied audiences.
• Team-oriented mindset, with a commitment to achieving results and a drive for continuous improvement.
• Flourishes in a high-growth setting where priorities shift frequently and decisions are made swiftly.
• Preferred: substantial experience in the sports industry, gaming, and content delivery.
• Preferred: highly skilled in Kotlin, Java, and/or Go.
• Preferred: proficiency in messaging technologies such as Kafka or Amazon SQS, with a robust understanding of event-driven architectures.
• Preferred: comfortable working with Cloud Native and Infrastructure as Code tools like Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform.
• Preferred: ability to navigate diverse codebases, both legacy and greenfield, across various languages and environments.
