Senior Software Engineer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and enhance services and integrations related to Payment, Billing, Identity, and partner collaborations.

• Oversee the scoping, design, and execution of APIs assigned to you.

• Complete production rollouts with minimal supervision.

• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering colleagues.

• Address renters’ challenges through small, iterative improvements.

• Standardize APIs, tools, and methodologies for sharing data and processing payments with external partners.

• Assist in monitoring billing and payment operations, ensuring reliability and overseeing dashboards, SLIs/SLOs, runbooks, deployment, and on-call procedures.

• Develop and manage platforms, tools, and documentation for payments, wallets, and settlement finance systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience in software engineering.

• A minimum of 4 years working with Java.

• Capability to work within a globally-distributed team while taking high ownership.

• Proven experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, effectively aligning and managing expectations for scope and delivery.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

• Background in creating robust, fault-tolerant systems with various external dependencies.

• Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines.

• Proficient in Java frameworks and tools, including Spring, Gradle, JUnit, as well as JVM memory/performance optimization and garbage collection.

• Familiarity with Service-Oriented Architecture, REST APIs, Message Queues, and scalable system architectures.

• Knowledge of AWS services, including EKS, Aurora RDS, ElastiCache, and DynamoDB.

• Experience using containerization tools.

• Preferred: expertise in CI/CD systems, ideally GitHub Actions, Git, and automation.

• Preferred: experience with observability and monitoring tools such as DataDog.

• Preferred: familiarity with big data platforms and tools, including Snowflake.

• Preferred: experience with Infrastructure as Code using CDK and Terraform.

• Preferred: mentoring junior engineers and enhancing team standards through best practices.

• Preferred: strong written and verbal communication skills along with cross-functional collaboration abilities.
