Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Accountable for the design, development, and testing of software intended for external-facing software products.

• Collaborate with the team lead to create suitable UI, architectural frameworks, database structures, and instrument controls for the company’s software offerings.

• Model behaviors, object hierarchies, and database architectures.

• Perform unit testing, verification, and debugging of systems, as well as troubleshoot to identify any issues and communicate effective solutions.

• As needed, present and engage in peer reviews of code and design documentation.

• Responsible for enhancing existing systems to incorporate new functionalities.

• When necessary, develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is mandatory.

• At least three years of experience in a software engineering setting is preferred.

• Experience in leading development sprints within an Agile framework is preferred.

• Strong understanding of best practices and processes related to the software development life cycle.

• Significant experience with Java, relational databases, and web technologies.

• Strong familiarity with build tools, automated build systems, and installation software is preferred.

• Experience with development and operations in a cloud environment, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred.

• Excellent logical problem-solving skills and a proven ability to comprehend large software codebases, identifying areas for improvement and extension as needed.

• Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management capabilities, with the ability to work autonomously and learn independently; contributing in a senior capacity within a team, both giving and receiving guidance.

• Outstanding oral and written communication skills, along with interpersonal skills, effectively collaborating within the team and across all levels of the organization.
