Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Designs, develops, and implements GraphQL APIs to ensure unified data access across various systems.

• Oversees the development and enhancement of semantic API architecture, which includes schema design, resolver optimization, and data normalization strategies.

• Establishes practices for data governance and security within semantic API layers.

• Collaborates with Data Engineering teams to incorporate data sources and transformation patterns.

• Leads processes for quality improvement, including code reviews, schema validation, and performance optimization.

• Mentors junior engineers while providing technical guidance on best practices for GraphQL and semantic architecture.

• Creates detailed documentation for semantic API patterns and their implementations.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience with AWS cloud services (Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, IAM, CloudWatch, X-Ray, Kinesis, Glue, Athena).

• Expert-level knowledge of GraphQL and AWS AppSync, including schema design, batch Lambda resolvers, pipeline resolvers, subscriptions, and caching.

• Proficient in Node.js for developing batch Lambda resolver functions.

• Skilled in Python for data processing and Lambda functions.

• Thorough understanding of Lambda batching patterns (DataLoader, batch aggregation, connection pooling, caching).

• Expert-level SQL and database expertise (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle).

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (DynamoDB).

• Strong background in data architecture, with knowledge of data management, integration patterns, and governance.

• Minimum of 7 years in software engineering, with 3-5 years focusing on API architecture and data-intensive applications.

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers.

• Exceptional communication and documentation abilities.

• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
