Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as a dependable technical authority in one or more areas of the codebase, making informed design choices with the right trade-offs.

• Take ownership of features and projects from the initial requirements through to technical design and production deployment.

• Break down work into manageable milestones with accurate estimates and communicate proactively if timelines are at risk.

• Troubleshoot intricate issues across system boundaries and design for observability, including logging, metrics, and alerting.

• Anticipate and resolve issues in the codebase or processes, beyond just the tasks assigned to you.

• Influence the technical direction within your team and advocate for quality from the user's perspective.

• Conduct thorough and constructive code reviews while mentoring engineers who are early in their careers.

• Document your work and decisions to enable others to build upon them.

• Assist Product Owners by providing domain expertise and help translate requirements into technical designs.

• Navigate ambiguity by making progress when requirements are incomplete or subject to change.

• Design and implement work that encompasses multiple system components, facilitating teammates and identifying risks to the overall team's delivery.

• Establish technical standards, improve code quality and tooling, and clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• Over 7 years of professional software development experience, demonstrating increasing ownership of complex projects over time.

• Strong comprehension of the complete software development lifecycle.

• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.

• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with remote, distributed teams.

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor.

• Expertise in .NET Core, .NET Framework, Entity Framework/Dapper, Web APIs, and Microservices.

• Experience in building database applications using relational databases such as PostgreSQL and SQL Server.

• Proficiency in Node.js, Angular or React, HTML5, CSS, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python.

• Solid grasp of CI/CD practices and pipelines.

• A genuine enthusiasm for technology and the ability to keep pace with a rapidly changing landscape.

• A proactive individual who questions the status quo, asks 'why' and 'what if', and drives enhancements independently.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
