Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the design, development, and management of full-stack features utilizing React/Next.js for frontends and Python for backend services.

• Develop scalable GraphQL APIs for both internal applications and integrations with external partners.

• Lead the technical solutions process from unclear requirements to implementation and final production release.

• Manage CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and ensure production stability for the services supported.

• Collaborate with product and design leaders to create sophisticated UI patterns, data visualizations, and analytics-driven workflows.

• Uphold code quality through comprehensive reviews, effective testing strategies, and refactoring initiatives.

• Assess and promote new technologies and industry best practices.

• Guide mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews, collaborative coding, and providing technical support.

• Shape the platform architecture and influence long-term technical strategies.

• Effectively communicate technical tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Report directly to the CTO, working alongside product, design, underwriting, and actuarial teams.

• Manage complex systems and features from start to finish, proactively designing solutions that are both scalable and maintainable.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in professional full-stack software development.

• Expertise in Python and TypeScript, particularly with React/Next.js.

• Strong grasp of clean coding practices, SOLID principles, design patterns, distributed systems, and an API-first approach.

• Extensive experience in designing and maintaining GraphQL APIs and service-oriented architectures.

• Proficient with AWS, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines within cloud-based environments.

• Capability to design scalable systems and make effective architectural decisions from start to finish.

• Development practices that prioritize security, focusing on data integrity, access control, and SOC 2 compliance.

• Ability to clearly convey technical tradeoffs to stakeholders who are not engineers.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required.

• Familiarity with AI/ML integrations, LLM APIs, or workflows driven by production intelligence is a plus.

• Experience with event-driven architectures, data pipelines, Apache Airflow, or Neo4j is also a plus.

• Understanding of cyber risk concepts is beneficial.

• Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar is advantageous.

• Previous experience in insurtech, MGA, fintech, regulated data-intensive sectors, or early-stage startups is desirable.

• Capability to work at a desk on a computer for extended periods.

• Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
