Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Deliver features from start to finish — take charge of complete vertical slices (PostgreSQL schema, Kotlin service, GraphQL contract, Next.js UI) and deploy production features without delays caused by handoffs.

• Ensure core API and service performance — design and uphold GraphQL and REST APIs with clear domain boundaries, maintaining low latency and high reliability even as load increases.

• Master the data architecture — create PostgreSQL schemas, optimize queries for scalability, manage zero-downtime migrations using Liquibase, and develop effective caching strategies.

• Deploy with assurance — maintain comprehensive test suites (unit, integration, contract, UI) with over 80% coverage, including CI/CD quality checks that identify issues prior to production deployment.

• Construct resilient systems — implement structured logging, distributed tracing, custom metrics, circuit breakers, and patterns for graceful degradation.

• Enhance the team’s capabilities — mentor mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews, architectural discussions, and pair programming sessions.

• Automate with intelligent agents — develop agentic primitives that accelerate everyday full-stack tasks; AI-native development is integral to our approach, not just an occasional experiment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, primarily focused on backend with meaningful contributions to frontend.

• Strong expertise in Kotlin and Spring Boot (or Java/Spring with a readiness to transition to Kotlin).

• Proficient in TypeScript and React (preferably Next.js).

• Significant experience with Python and contemporary frameworks (FastAPI is preferred).

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, relational database design, and migration management.

• A proven history of working in continuous delivery environments with automated testing.

• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS; solid understanding of microservices patterns, API design, and distributed systems.

• US citizenship is mandatory (due to DoD contracting requirements — IL4/IL5 environments — and FedRAMP compliance).
