This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
β’ Deliver features from start to finish β take charge of complete vertical slices (PostgreSQL schema, Kotlin service, GraphQL contract, Next.js UI) and deploy production features without delays caused by handoffs.
β’ Ensure core API and service performance β design and uphold GraphQL and REST APIs with clear domain boundaries, maintaining low latency and high reliability even as load increases.
β’ Master the data architecture β create PostgreSQL schemas, optimize queries for scalability, manage zero-downtime migrations using Liquibase, and develop effective caching strategies.
β’ Deploy with assurance β maintain comprehensive test suites (unit, integration, contract, UI) with over 80% coverage, including CI/CD quality checks that identify issues prior to production deployment.
β’ Construct resilient systems β implement structured logging, distributed tracing, custom metrics, circuit breakers, and patterns for graceful degradation.
β’ Enhance the teamβs capabilities β mentor mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews, architectural discussions, and pair programming sessions.
β’ Automate with intelligent agents β develop agentic primitives that accelerate everyday full-stack tasks; AI-native development is integral to our approach, not just an occasional experiment.
β’ A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, primarily focused on backend with meaningful contributions to frontend.
β’ Strong expertise in Kotlin and Spring Boot (or Java/Spring with a readiness to transition to Kotlin).
β’ Proficient in TypeScript and React (preferably Next.js).
β’ Significant experience with Python and contemporary frameworks (FastAPI is preferred).
β’ Familiarity with PostgreSQL, relational database design, and migration management.
β’ A proven history of working in continuous delivery environments with automated testing.
β’ Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS; solid understanding of microservices patterns, API design, and distributed systems.
β’ US citizenship is mandatory (due to DoD contracting requirements β IL4/IL5 environments β and FedRAMP compliance).
β’ Meaningful work.
β’ AI-native by default.
β’ True ownership.
β’ High-autonomy culture.
β’ Modern technology stack, free from legacy constraints.
