Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

• Your role involves developing Alpaca's algorithmic trading platform to fulfill our users' expectations for exceptional quality and performance in their brokerage services.

• This position resembles an opportunity to join early-stage teams at AWS or Heroku, where you will design and architect our platform while taking on multiple responsibilities within our small team.

• As a seasoned engineer, you will produce extensive code and make vital decisions to ensure the best possible experience for our customers.

• This role demands extensive knowledge in both frontend and backend technologies, databases, and distributed systems, along with a wide-ranging experience from low to high level in CPU-level hardware for high throughput. You will focus on robust concurrency system design, abstract distributed system architecture for high availability, and object-oriented data modeling with a vision for long-term growth.

⛳️ Requirements

• A strong, experienced software engineer with leadership experience is preferred.

• Proficiency in both low and high-level programming languages such as C/C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, and Python.

• Expertise in optimizing for low latency and high throughput.

• Experience with messaging queues and message brokers.

• An analytical, data-driven mindset and skill set.

• Knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, low latency systems, and concurrency control.

• Skills in system design, including object-oriented data modeling, service-oriented architectures, and system abstraction.

• Experience in the development and implementation of Order Management Systems (OMS) and Risk Management Systems (RMS).
