Senior Software Engineer, AI/ML, Trust

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with extensive structured and unstructured datasets to develop and continually enhance innovative ML systems, product integrations, and performance optimizations for Airbnb's products, business, and operational applications.

• Work in partnership with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, operations, and data scientists, to identify opportunities for business impact, clarify, refine, and prioritize requirements for AI/ML models, drive engineering decisions, and measure impact.

• Collaborate closely with other trust defense and platform teams to address the evolving landscape of fraud attacks.

• Hands-on experience in deploying and managing AI/ML solutions and pipelines at scale, encompassing both batch and real-time scenarios.

• Lead, mentor, and foster a dynamic, collaborative AI/ML culture within the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional experience in backend/platform engineering (or equivalent).

• Proficient in programming (Python / Java or equivalent), data structures and algorithms, along with a strong foundation in data engineering.

• Familiarity with ML best practices (e.g., minimizing training/serving skew, A/B testing, feature engineering, and feature/model selection).

• Proven experience with at least three of the following technologies: Tensorflow, PyTorch, Kubernetes, Spark, orchestration tools (Airflow/Kubeflow), streaming/processing technologies (Kafka/Spark/Ray), and data warehouses (e.g., Hive).

• Experience in creating observability for AI systems, including metrics, logging, and traces.

• Professional experience in developing end-to-end Machine Learning infrastructure and/or in building and deploying Machine Learning models is advantageous.

• Must have a background in large technology product companies addressing real-world challenges.

• Exposure to architectural patterns within large, high-scale software applications (e.g., well-designed APIs, high-volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms, and models).

• Familiarity with test-driven development, A/B testing, incremental delivery, and deployment practices.

• Experience in the Trust and Risk domain is a plus.
