This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Design, develop, and enhance automation frameworks across the entire stack: Component, Integration, Contract (Pact), E2E, and Performance/Load testing.
• Collaborate with development teams during refinement, build, and release stages to incorporate quality criteria into sprint planning and definitions of done.
• Provide coaching on automation, testability, observability, and quality-first design principles.
• Ensure our pipelines are efficient, dependable, and CI-native by implementing significant quality gates and minimizing feedback loops.
• Recommend architectural enhancements to improve testability and advocate for patterns that facilitate robust contract testing.
• Enhance our monitoring and alerting standards and participate in incident post-mortems to convert ‘learnings’ into automated safeguards.
• Utilize DORA metrics to offer insights into quality trends and foster continuous improvement.
• Take initiative to advance the organization-wide quality strategy, designing the overarching architecture of our testing ecosystem and mentoring junior engineers.
• Serve as a thought leader to guide development teams, promoting 'quality-first' design to boost delivery speed and enhance engineering maturity.
• Recent professional experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) or a similar role.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with proficiency in Java, TypeScript, or comparable modern programming languages.
• A proven history of designing and maintaining multi-layered automation frameworks, including Component, Integration, Contract (Pact), E2E, and Performance/Load testing.
• Practical experience in constructing CI/CD pipelines, integrating automated quality gates, and optimizing for rapid, parallel feedback loops.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot application issues, influence product design to enhance testability, and proactively guide engineers on best practices for unit and component testing.
• Capability to propose architectural system design improvements that augment testability, observability, and logging in cloud-native environments.
• Enthusiasm for monitoring and alerting standards, with experience in transforming incident learnings into systemic, automated safeguards.
• Strong communication skills to effectively coach development teams, promote ‘quality-first’ design, and enhance engineering maturity.
