
Senior Software Developer β Support

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
β’ Oversee the investigation and resolution of intricate production challenges affecting healthcare clients.
β’ Collaborate with Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams to identify and rectify issues reported in customer incidents.
β’ Evaluate solutions to ensure they are interoperable, efficient, and sustainable.
β’ Escalate high-risk and complex client issues to leadership when necessary.
β’ Diagnose and resolve complicated, high-priority production escalations that necessitate in-depth code analysis and database scrutiny.
β’ Design, implement, and sustain scalable, dependable, and maintainable software solutions within the Smile Digital Health platform.
β’ Lead root cause analysis initiatives and apply long-term corrective measures to minimize recurring problems.
β’ Identify the underlying causes of systemic software regressions, create solid code patches, and coordinate with DevOps for hotfix implementations.
β’ Provide technical guidance during incident responses, troubleshooting, and high-priority client escalations.
β’ Review, enhance, and refactor existing systems, emphasizing performance, resilience, and maintainability.
β’ Conduct detailed code reviews and forensic log analysis to pinpoint intermittent or challenging bugs.
β’ Engage in code reviews, ensuring compliance with engineering best practices and coding standards.
β’ Minimum of 6 years of professional software development experience. Experience in the healthcare or technology sector is preferred.
β’ Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline, and/or equivalent professional experience.
β’ Proven experience and proficiency in Java, Spring, SQL, Git, and distributed systems.
β’ Established history of troubleshooting and resolving critical issues in complex production settings.
β’ Strong skills in building client relationships, understanding client objectives and challenges, and providing clear paths to resolution.
β’ In-depth understanding of software architecture, design patterns, scalability, and maintainability principles.
β’ Experience in leading technical initiatives and guiding projects from inception to delivery.
β’ Ability to analyze ambiguous issues, evaluate risks, and make sound technical decisions autonomously.
β’ Strong background in debugging, observability, logging, and monitoring tools.
β’ Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
β’ Demonstrated experience in mentorship and technical leadership.
β’ Experience in healthcare technology, HL7, or FHIR is considered advantageous.
