Senior Software Developer, Rust

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and develop high-accuracy Rust services that operate on critical platform paths.

• Integrate Rust into domains where safety, determinism, and performance are paramount.

• Take ownership of systems from architecture through implementation to rollout and operations.

• Make informed decisions regarding concurrency, asynchronous boundaries, data integrity, and failure modes.

• Collaborate across service boundaries in a polyglot environment, utilizing Rust alongside other technology stacks.

• Partner with product, design, and frontend engineers to create systems that are both technically robust and aligned with product goals.

• Enhance reliability, observability, and system performance through thoughtful design rather than merely patching issues.

• Mentor fellow engineers and elevate the standards of system quality and ownership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building and maintaining distributed systems in production environments.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Rust (beyond mere experiments or side projects).

• Knowledge of Rust's strengths and weaknesses.

• Comfort with reasoning about concurrency, asynchronous systems, and correctness guarantees.

• Experience in designing APIs and data contracts that can evolve safely over time.

• Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases at scale.

• Experience deploying and managing services in AWS or GCP (we primarily use GCP!).

• Naturally take initiative and navigate ambiguity with ease.

• Ability to communicate clearly and articulate trade-offs effectively.
