Senior Software Engineer – Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services utilizing Java.

• Assist in the transition of services from Java 8 to Java 17.

• Engage in database modernization efforts, including upgrades to MySQL.

• Produce clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code.

• Perform code reviews to ensure the quality, security, and compliance with architectural standards.

• Diagnose, debug, and resolve intricate technical challenges.

• Collaborate closely with developers, QA engineers, and product stakeholders to deliver exceptional solutions.

• Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to the overall solution design.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation to support development initiatives.

• Take part in Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in developing scalable Java backend applications.

• Strong practical experience with Java versions from 8 to 17.

• Deep understanding of object-oriented design principles and design patterns.

• Solid knowledge of multithreading and concurrency concepts.

• Extensive experience with MySQL or other relational databases.

• Proficient in writing unit tests using JUnit and Mockito.

• Experience with cloud platforms, with a preference for GCP.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes or similar orchestration tools.

• Proven experience in troubleshooting and debugging complex applications.

• Proficient in Linux and shell scripting.

• Strong communication skills with experience working collaboratively within cross-functional Scrum teams.

• Upper-Intermediate or higher English proficiency.

• Desirable: Experience with Groovy.

• Desirable: Experience with Gradle.

• Desirable: Experience with CI/CD pipelines.

• Desirable: Experience with migrations of Java versions or database modernization projects.
