Senior Software Developer in Test, Quality Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance MaintainX's collective quality platform, test automation frameworks, and developer tools.

• Create and implement AI-assisted test authoring infrastructure that significantly accelerates test creation while ensuring high quality.

• Take ownership of CI integration standards and enhance build reliability across engineering teams.

• Design test harnesses for AI-driven product features, including health checks, graceful degradation, quota monitoring, and adversarial testing.

• Identify and resolve systemic test debt and flaky tests before they affect engineering teams.

• Construct shared testing utilities and frameworks that are adopted throughout the engineering organization.

• Collaborate with Quality Advocates, product engineering teams, and SRE to continuously enhance testing strategies and platform reliability.

• Assess emerging AI testing tools and promote their adoption where they yield measurable engineering benefits.

⛳️ Requirements

• Hands-on experience in building and maintaining production-quality test automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, or similar technologies.

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with a background in writing, debugging, and maintaining production application code.

• Experience in integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and diagnosing flaky or failing test suites.

• Proven experience in building or maintaining shared developer tools, testing infrastructure, or engineering platforms.

• Familiarity with AI development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar to enhance engineering workflows while applying sound engineering judgment.

• Comfortable with owning systems end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to production support.

• Experience in mentoring engineers and contributing to improving engineering quality across teams.

• Nice to Have:

• Experience in building test harnesses for AI-driven features, including health checks, circuit-breakers, adversarial testing, or resilience testing.

• Experience in building or maintaining autonomous or agentic AI systems.

• Experience in evaluating AI-powered developer tools and integrating them into engineering workflows.

• Experience in incorporating observability and quality metrics into testing platforms.

• Experience in working with large-scale developer platforms that support multiple engineering teams.
