Senior Site Reliability Engineer – VPN Service

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Implement and oversee globally distributed VPN and DNS services.

• Guarantee connection quality, stability, and performance across the entire node network.

• Collaborate with application teams regarding client connectivity and protocol functionality.

• Enhance VPN service performance through kernel tuning, flamechart analysis, and profiling.

• Oversee security protocols, including firewalls, PKI, certificate lifecycle management, and hardening practices.

• Administer authentication and authorization systems.

• Manage configuration and automated provisioning of infrastructure.

• Provide clear written communication during incidents and take ownership of postmortems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Take full ownership of critical VPN services from architecture to scalability, security, and monitoring.

• Achieve OKRs and key commitments within the established timelines.

• Draft RFCs/ADRs for new features, refactoring, and other enhancements.

• Elevate engineering quality through established standards, design reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentorship.

• Balance reliability, security, and delivery speed with sound operational judgment.

• Advanced knowledge of networking concepts, including VPN protocols, tunneling, routing, and DNS.

• In-depth understanding of Linux, including kernel internals, tuning, and module management.

• Experience in managing firewalls.

• Proficient in performance analysis, including flamecharts, profiling, and identifying bottlenecks.

• Fluency in the OSI model, encompassing L2 through L7, TCP/IP stack, and SSL/TLS.

• Solid foundation in security principles, including PKI, certificate management, and hardening techniques.

• Knowledge of authentication and authorization methods, such as RADIUS and access control.

• Expertise in configuration management and automated deployment practices.

• Experience with load balancing and failover strategies for distributed services.

• Familiarity with Docker.
