This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Chile.
• Design, upgrade, and architect scalable infrastructure solutions utilizing Kubernetes, AWS, RDS (MySQL/Postgres), and contemporary distributed patterns.
• Guide the infrastructure team’s roadmap, enhancing our levels of reliability, recoverability, and scalability.
• Oversee capacity planning, benchmarking, and collaborate with the team to stress test our systems, identify bottlenecks, and prepare for future growth in the business.
• Define, uphold, and implement SLAs and alerts across our infrastructure.
• Steer teams towards improved signal anomaly detection and more adaptable alerting systems.
• Assist in leading Sezzle’s AI enablement initiatives, pinpointing opportunities to integrate AI and automation to boost infrastructure reliability, developer efficiency, and internal tools.
• Ensure consistency and scalability within a distributed microservices architecture while preserving performance and reliability.
• Establish and refine engineering best practices for observability, security, and CI/CD across various teams.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of learning, innovation, and operational excellence.
• Work collaboratively across functions to translate business objectives into technical roadmaps and deliver impactful results.
• A minimum of 12 years in professional software engineering or infrastructure engineering, with substantial SRE and backend experience.
• Experience in deploying significant changes to a production application or infrastructure configuration within the last 30 days.
• Strong expertise in Golang, with a background in building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Proficient in SQL-based RDBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL) with experience in optimizing schema and queries for performance at scale.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, and New Relic.
• Comprehensive understanding of distributed systems design patterns (e.g., transactional outbox, event-driven architecture, stream processing, and queues).
• Proven ability to introduce new ideas, influence decision-making, and lead complex technical projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
