Senior Shopify Developer – Apps, Themes, AI Workflow

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pakistan.

📋 Description

• Shopify App Development (primary focus): Create and manage Shopify applications (embedded admin apps and backend services).

• Collaborate with Shopify Admin GraphQL, webhooks, app proxy, and metafields/metaobjects.

• Execute authentication, data synchronization, background jobs, and integrations (APIs, SFTP, PDFs, etc.).

• Troubleshoot production issues comprehensively and deploy fixes with clean pull requests.

• Shopify Theme Development: Develop and enhance themes (Liquid, sections/blocks, JSON templates, Dawn patterns).

• Create storefront functionalities using JavaScript (cart behavior, UI logic, performance).

• Integrate application outputs into the storefront (theme app extensions, scripts, blocks).

• Basic Store Setup & Operations: Establish Shopify stores: products/collections, markets, shipping/taxes, payments, emails.

• Configure applications, theme structure, navigation, key pages, and conduct basic quality assurance.

• Document setup procedures for reproducibility by others.

• AI-Assisted Development (daily): Utilize Cursor (and similar tools) to accelerate delivery.

• Draft prompts, evaluate AI output, and convert it into production-ready code.

• Employ AI for debugging and testing while maintaining high code quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in senior Shopify app development (real projects, not merely “installed apps”).

• Proficiency in: Node.js, Shopify CLI, Admin GraphQL, and webhooks.

• Bonus: Familiarity with Remix/React + Polaris, Prisma/SQLite.

• Strong skills in Shopify theme development, including Liquid, sections/blocks, JSON templates, and JavaScript storefront work.

• Solid understanding of AI workflows.

• Capable of efficient development with Cursor (or similar tools) while maintaining high quality.

• Ability to verify, test, and avoid shipping low-quality AI-generated content.

• Competent in setting up basic Shopify stores.

• Confident in fundamental settings (markets, shipping/taxes, payments, emails).

• Self-motivated and disciplined: You communicate daily, resolve blockages independently, and complete tasks without external pressure.

• Familiar with Git/PR workflow and ensuring clean handoffs.

• Nice-to-have: Experience with Shopify Functions (Cart Transform), Checkout Extensibility, VPS basics (Linux/SSH, logs, PM2, Caddy/Nginx), and a performance and accessibility mindset.

• Experience deploying applications across multiple stores/environments.
