Senior SEO Strategist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• The Senior SEO Strategist is essential in sustaining and enhancing WordPress websites.

• This role emphasizes technical execution, adherence to SEO best practices, and comprehensive documentation to aid clients' digital achievements.

• Responsible for managing URL structures, implementing 301 redirects, configuring canonical tags, and overseeing XML sitemaps.

• Monitor and address crawl errors to guarantee proper indexing of newly created and updated content.

• Perform regular SEO health assessments utilizing tools such as Ahrefs.

• Keep meticulous records of technical challenges, implementations, and advancements.

• Lead the SEO and GEO segments of Quarterly Business Reviews alongside the Client Success Advisor.

• Present audits and strategic plans to non-technical audiences while maintaining the technical integrity.

• Accurately track and document SEO challenges, enhancements, and implementations.

• Contribute to SiteCare's SEO and GEO initiatives beyond your assigned portfolio.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of SEO experience demonstrating measurable growth across various sites, whether in an agency or in-house setting.

• Proven ability to manage the entire organic strategy lifecycle: research, planning, execution, and reporting.

• Extensive hands-on experience with WordPress at scale, including understanding how plugin and theme selections influence SEO.

• Strong skills in problem-solving, organization, and time management.

• Experience working directly with clients, conveying strategy and performance to non-technical stakeholders.

• Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in technical documentation.

• Practical knowledge of how large language models (LLMs) surface and cite content and what criteria make a page citation-worthy.

• Experience in monitoring brand and topic visibility across platforms such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Google AI Overviews.

• Familiarity with at least one dedicated GEO tool (e.g., Ahrefs Brand Radar, Profound, Otterly, Peec AI, AthenaHQ, Scrunch, or similar).

• Comfort with entity-based SEO, schema designed for AI extraction, and content patterns that achieve citations.
