Senior Search Engineer, Elasticsearch

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Enhance search capabilities for our customers.

• Increase relevance by crafting faster queries and improving data quality.

• Enrich the ingestion architecture by processing change events and updating Elasticsearch mappings.

• Ensure effective integration and improve search results through better mapping and data retrieval.

• Comprehend data modeling implications for indexing and querying.

• Maintain rapid search performance and guarantee resiliency within microservice environments.

• Collaborate with technologies such as Kubernetes, gRPC, TypeScript, Node.js, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Kafka, and DataDog for monitoring.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience as a Search Engineer.

• Profound knowledge of how (distributed) search engines operate, with practical experience in a leading search engine.

• Capability to run, monitor, debug, and manage Elasticsearch clusters and associated applications, delivering well-tested and reviewed code.

• Proven track record of providing measurable outcomes, conducting A/B tests to verify changes, and defining success/failure metrics for search functionalities.

• Eagerness to stay updated on the latest advancements in search and related technologies, including semantic search, NLP, LLMs, vector search, hybrid search, and machine learning.

• Willingness to coach and mentor teammates while sharing knowledge.

• Dedication to team success, offering constructive feedback and engaging in productive discussions.

• Exceptional written and spoken English skills.
