This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop and establish the test automation framework along with the standards that other engineers will adhere to.
• Create and uphold automated tests throughout the stack, including API, integration, and end-to-end UI.
• Focus on automation based on risk and value, prioritizing quick, dependable API-level tests over fragile UI tests whenever feasible.
• Incorporate tests into the CI/CD pipeline to ensure they run automatically with each change, providing rapid feedback.
• Minimize flakiness and maintain the reliability of the test suite, ensuring that failures are meaningful.
• Assess and implement AI-assisted testing tools (such as test generation, self-healing tests, and failure triage), leveraging AI and prompt engineering to expedite test creation and identify edge cases.
• Critically evaluate AI-generated tests and code, acting as the human-in-the-loop rather than simply approving them.
• Guide other engineers on automation methodologies and contribute to enhancing testing quality across teams.
• Over 5 years of experience in software test automation or software engineering with a strong emphasis on testing.
• Proficient coding skills in at least one of the following: Python, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Extensive experience with a contemporary automation framework (such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium), including building or owning the framework rather than merely writing tests within it.
• Strong background in API testing (using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or similar) and familiarity with SQL and database validation.
• Direct experience in integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Basic understanding of cloud services (AWS) and containerization (Docker).
• A practical, risk-based approach with the ability to discern what is worth automating.
• Experience utilizing AI coding assistants or AI test-generation tools in professional settings (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar), with a clear understanding of their advantages and limitations.
• Proficient in crafting effective prompts to generate test concepts, edge cases, and analyze failures.
