📋 Description

• This role is tasked with developing and implementing a pipeline of research and development initiatives focused on materials science.

• Responsible for the creation and application of new resins, barriers, additives, and processes.

• Enhancing the use of Post Consumer Recycled (PCR) resins.

• Collaborate extensively with both internal and external partners to spearhead the advancement of next-generation materials science solutions that promote more sustainable products in the marketplace.

• Lead research and decision-making processes regarding new resin solutions and alternatives.

• Foster continuous innovation and technology scouting efforts in sustainability, particularly within the materials sector.

• Serve as the internal expert on PCR usage and methods to increase the incorporation of PCR in RPSNAB products.

• Manage timelines and budgets related to material development programs in alignment with overall business objectives.

• Exhibit a collaborative work style with a willingness to learn and mentor others.

• Demonstrate strong program management skills and experience, capable of leading high-priority, cross-functional development programs, including indirect leadership of cross-functional project teams.

• Recommend the appropriate project management and engineering tools for the development and implementation of resin and barrier solutions.

• Provide technical support to engineering, manufacturing, and other internal/external clients as necessary.

• Assist business units in creating a business case for resin and barrier solutions, including targeted performance specifications, cost analysis, and overall value proposition.

• Develop inspection protocols and validate new product and material specifications.

• Utilize creative and lateral thinking combined with scientific knowledge to achieve desired outcomes.

• Have a comprehensive understanding of the business to recognize overall market needs and anticipate future demands.

• Capable of working independently and adding value throughout all stages of a project while applying analytical skills.

• Actively seek feedback and make adjustments to improve personal performance.

• Oversee resin trials and participate in material selection processes.

• Specify and approve lab work requests, including the sign-off on resin and process configurations and overseeing the qualification of new resins and materials as applicable.

• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills along with effective interpersonal abilities.

• Require tact and efficiency in interactions with a diverse array of stakeholders in daily work relationships and executive communications.

• Uphold and enforce all company safety, environmental, and health department regulations.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s Degree or PhD in a materials-related discipline is preferred.

• 8-10+ years of pertinent experience coupled with a degree in material science, engineering, or a related field.

• Proven program leader in material science within a corporate environment, capable of defining, implementing, and sustaining effective program management practices.

• Proficient in material science with a relevant understanding of its implications on injection and blow molding processes.

• Strong knowledge of PET, PP, HDPE, and a basic understanding of alternative materials.

• Demonstrated expertise in plastics conversion technologies is preferred (extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, ISBM, etc.).

• Ability to navigate a complex research and development environment.

• Establish and uphold appropriate work standards.

• Skilled at building and maintaining relationships with vendors and other external partners.

• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
