Senior SAP ABAP Engineer – Banking AMS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve intricate technical incidents and customer-reported issues within productive Banking environments.

• Conduct root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective and preventive measures.

• Support operational customer systems to ensure stable, secure, and reliable functionality.

• Engage in technical escalations and activities related to critical issue resolution.

• Work directly with customers to comprehend technical challenges and propose effective solutions.

• Contribute to service quality, operational excellence, and initiatives for continuous improvement.

• Design, develop, and maintain ABAP-based corrections, enhancements, and technical advancements.

• Collaborate to build high-quality software solutions with internal stakeholders, customers, and partners.

• Perform impact analysis and assist in release and deployment efforts.

• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues across application and integration layers.

• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation.

• Keep abreast of innovations in S/4HANA and contemporary SAP technologies.

• Mentor and assist team members in their technical and professional growth.

• Contribute to team culture, operational methodologies, engineering standards, and support processes.

• Assist in the onboarding and integration of new team members.

• Participate in recruitment efforts and help develop a growing AMS engineering capability.

• Serve as a technical role model and trusted advisor within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

• 6–7 years of experience in ABAP object-oriented development.

• Strong capabilities in debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

• Experience with productive SAP systems and critical business applications.

• Good understanding of ABAP Objects, enhancements, interfaces, and SAP development best practices.

• Proven experience mentoring developers and fostering engineering team growth.

• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to simplify technical complexities.

• Strong communication abilities for effective collaboration across teams and customer organizations.

• Proficiency in English.

• Proficiency in German.

• Customer-focused mindset with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.

• Nice to have: experience in Application Management Services (AMS) or production support environments.

• Nice to have: experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Insurance.

• Nice to have: knowledge of CDS Views, OData Services, RAP, SAP UI5, or Fiori.

• Nice to have: familiarity with SAP S/4HANA development concepts.

• Nice to have: experience in contributing to automation, operational enhancements, or knowledge management initiatives.
