This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
• Advocate for Purina Animal Nutrition products within retail settings.
• Perform regular store visits to enhance product visibility, placement, and sales growth.
• Collaborate with store management to implement promotions and merchandising strategies.
• Meet or surpass sales goals and budget objectives through in-store engagement.
• Act as the primary communication link between field teams and internal departments (marketing, supply chain, innovation).
• Maintain comprehensive product knowledge to support sales and training initiatives.
• Establish and nurture relationships with key customer stakeholders, including Regional VPs, District Managers, Store Managers, and team leads.
• Work alongside Customer Development Managers (CDMs) and colleagues to ensure coordinated execution.
• Monitor activity and outcomes through CRM systems.
• Assist with new store openings and complete training within approximately 30 days.
• Provide training, onboarding, and ongoing support to retail teams.
• Accountable for achieving revenue, sales volume, and growth objectives.
• Forge strategic partnerships with retail accounts.
• Drive initiatives that have a direct impact on brand visibility and in-store performance.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or a related business discipline (e.g., Animal Science/Nutrition, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Education).
• 2+ years of successful sales and/or nutritional experience influencing individuals through expertise.
• Capability to manage shifting and multiple priorities, demonstrating a motivated and responsive demeanor with shoppers and retail store associates.
• Relationship skills: adept at building and sustaining positive relationships with current and prospective accounts.
• Proven ability to engage effectively with customers, suppliers, employees, and management at all levels.
• Strong financial and analytical skills; ability to analyze sales data to achieve significant results.
• Capable of connecting Purina business strategies with positive outcomes.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as within cross-functional teams.
• Skillful in resolving conflicts or addressing store complaints as they emerge.
• Strong general management abilities, including quick and effective issue resolution, and analytical and strategic thinking.
• Communication skills: both written and oral, including strategy presentations to staff at all levels.
• Creative thinker: capable of developing and generating new ideas, systems, and relationships for the company's success.
• Planning skills: able to devise specific plans and objectives to accomplish tasks effectively and efficiently.
• Competent in leading and managing through change.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including virtual tools.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including overnight stays.
• Capability to lift 50 lb bags.
