Senior Ruby API Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain Ruby on Rails applications along with RESTful API endpoints.

• Create scalable and maintainable APIs that facilitate integrations between various applications and services.

• Improve and uphold existing Ruby on Rails applications while adhering to established development and architectural standards.

• Develop and integrate front-end functionalities utilizing React and associated JavaScript technologies.

• Diagnose application and API issues, identify underlying causes, and implement effective solutions.

• Collaborate with developers, technical leads, architects, and stakeholders to design and deliver enhancements to applications.

• Assume additional tasks and responsibilities as necessary to support team goals and project success.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, with over 5 years of professional software development experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• More than 5 years of practical experience in developing applications with Ruby on Rails.

• Extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs.

• Familiarity with React, JavaScript, and contemporary web application development.

• Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and a dedication to producing high-quality, maintainable software.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities with a capability to collaborate effectively within a distributed technical team.

• Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL and proficiency in writing efficient database queries.

• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and software development best practices, including Git-based version control and CI/CD methodologies.

• Experience working with applications in federal government or healthcare IT environments is preferred.

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

• All selected candidates must successfully undergo a background check.

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance, including required fingerprinting, when necessary for the position.

• Must reside within the continental United States.
