Senior Risk Strategist – Fraud

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Take ownership of strategy and implementation across various fraud domains – such as ACH, Check Deposits, Checkbooks, RTP, onboarding, and ATO – prioritizing action and maintaining high standards for results.

β€’ Propel the development of Mercury’s Personal Banking fraud initiative by leveraging consumer fintech knowledge to create controls and strategies tailored for consumer account holders.

β€’ Utilize data and quantitative analysis to establish fraud controls, reduce risk, and enhance customer experience while navigating trade-offs.

β€’ Collaborate with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure all solutions comply with regulatory standards.

β€’ Lead cross-functional initiatives involving Product, Engineering, and Operations to design and implement scalable risk management solutions.

β€’ Act as a domain expert across various fraud types, proactively identifying gaps and driving systemic enhancements across fraud programs.

β€’ Define and monitor metrics that assess both risk effectiveness and customer impact.

β€’ Take proactive steps without needing direction – identify issues, build the case, and drive projects to completion.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Over 6 years of experience in an analytical role, including a minimum of 4 years focused on fraud detection and strategy – experience in consumer fintech is highly preferred.

β€’ Demonstrated ability to design and implement fraud strategies across various payment methods and fraud categories (ACH, checks, RTP, onboarding, ATO, friendly fraud).

β€’ Practical experience contributing to consumer/personal banking fraud programs, with an understanding of consumer-specific fraud patterns and the regulatory landscape.

β€’ Proficient in customer risk scoring/modeling and process automation.

β€’ Strong SQL skills and the ability to convert data into actionable strategies.

β€’ Proven track record of balancing risk, compliance, and customer experience in cross-functional environments.

β€’ Exceptional communication skills to distill complex risk concepts into clear and concise recommendations.

β€’ Proven capability to navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions with incomplete information.

β€’ Highly self-driven with a strong work ethic.

β€’ Inquisitive, growth-oriented, and eager to tackle fraud challenges at all stages of the lifecycle (new product launches, scaling, and legacy optimization).
