Senior Reviewer – Code, Web Templates

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• This position involves reviewing and assisting with quality evaluations across various asset groups, including Web Themes & UI Templates, Site Templates, UI Templates, Template Kits, WordPress themes, WordPress plugins, Scripts, Plugins, Code assets, Front-end templates and components, Admin dashboards, landing pages, HTML templates, and related web products.

• Evaluate and analyze submissions across all categories of code and web templates in accordance with Envato’s technical, quality, usability, documentation, security, and commercial standards.

• Consistently apply review criteria across all asset types, focusing on design quality, code quality, functionality, responsiveness, browser compatibility, accessibility, performance, security, dependency management, documentation, installation and setup experience, originality, and commercial value.

• Identify and reject submissions that fail to meet marketplace standards, including those exhibiting poor code quality, broken functionality, insufficient documentation, security issues, excessive dependencies, low originality, poor usability, intellectual property risks, or minimal commercial value.

• Deliver clear, objective, and constructive review outcomes that align with established review guidelines.

• Recognize complex, ambiguous, or high-risk submissions and escalate them to the relevant stakeholders for further evaluation.

• Identify emerging category risks, contributor patterns, and quality issues that may affect marketplace standards or customer trust.

• Assist in calibration activities to ensure consistency and alignment of review standards within the Code Review team.

• Contribute to the creation and upkeep of review documentation, category standards, technical benchmarks, and materials for reviewer enablement.

• Detect recurring contributor issues, operational bottlenecks, and opportunities for enhancing review quality, efficiency, and consistency.

• Stay updated on modern web development practices, WordPress, JavaScript frameworks, UI/UX trends, plugin ecosystems, marketplace expectations, and trends in AI-assisted development.

• Collaborate with Content Operations leaders to facilitate the evolution of the review function, including transitioning from a larger contractor model to a smaller, highly skilled, cross-functional review team based in Mexico.

• Maintain productivity and turnaround expectations while ensuring that quality, consistency, and customer trust are upheld.

• Serve as a subject matter expert in code and web template review, aiding in team knowledge sharing, reviewer development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong full-stack development experience with hands-on expertise in front-end and back-end web development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, WordPress themes and plugins, scripts, and web templates—encompassing responsive design, browser compatibility, performance optimization, and accessibility fundamentals.

• Comprehensive understanding of WordPress ecosystems, including template hierarchy, installation workflows, customization, dependencies, and prevalent marketplace quality issues.

• Profound knowledge of clean code practices, file organization, naming conventions, documentation standards, version compatibility, and user setup experiences.

• Ability to pinpoint common technical risks such as broken functionality, inadequate code structure, weak security practices, performance challenges, unsupported dependencies, and poor customer usability.

• Keen eye for commercial quality, customer value, modern design execution, and marketplace relevance.

• Capability to leverage AI-assisted tools to enhance review throughput, code analysis, and other workflow and productivity efficiencies.

• Competence in making consistent, objective, and well-grounded review decisions across multiple asset categories.

• Excellent written communication abilities, with the capacity to articulate technical decisions clearly and professionally.

• High attention to detail, enabling the quick identification of technical and quality issues.

• Comfort in maintaining high-quality standards while achieving productivity and turnaround expectations.

• Ability to collaborate with global teams in a remote or hybrid setting.

• Fluent or possessing strong professional proficiency in English.

• Previous experience in reviewing or creating assets for a digital marketplace.

• Familiarity with Envato’s marketplaces, including ThemeForest and CodeCanyon.

• Deeper specialization in one or more areas beyond the essential technical coverage.

• Experience in QA, technical validation, software testing, content review, or marketplace operations.

• Understanding of intellectual property, licensing, open-source dependencies, and AI-assisted code generation risks as they relate to marketplace submissions.

• Experience in supporting process improvements, reviewer calibration, documentation, or category quality standards.
