Senior Research Writer, B2B Thought Leadership

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create narrative-driven research reports that transform survey data and crosstabs into engaging thought leadership for B2B technology audiences.

• Formulate the narrative prior to writing: identify the core story in the data, distinguish between significant insights and extraneous information, and propose the most compelling, defensible angle.

• Manage research projects from inception to completion: participate in client kickoffs, assist in shaping research strategies and survey instruments, interpret results, compose the report, and present findings to stakeholders.

• Lead sessions with clients: facilitate strategic discussions, present findings, and confidently steer conversations with senior marketing and business leaders.

• Collaborate with the agency's data analysts and research operations team throughout each project.

• Direct AI-assisted drafting: utilize AI tools for initial organization and synthesis, then apply your judgment to refine the output into strategic, original work. If you prefer to always start from scratch and avoid shaping an AI-assisted draft, this role may not be suitable for you.

• Review research reports and briefs for analytical rigor, narrative strength, and clarity.

• Occasionally contribute to content projects (blogs, case studies, thought leadership articles) when the content team requires assistance, while maintaining a primary focus on research.

• Assist in the growth of the research practice over time: establish editorial standards and mentor freelance writers as the team expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in content strategy, research, journalism, or analyst roles.

• Practical experience with original survey research: you have authored reports, white papers, or thought leadership pieces based on quantitative survey data, and can interpret crosstabs to discern what is significant.

• Exceptional editorial judgment: you can identify which findings deserve to be highlighted, which should be relegated to the appendix, and which should be omitted entirely.

• Strong narrative writing skills combined with a journalistic approach: you create evidence-based arguments that influence readers' perspectives, rather than merely summarizing data. If you specialize in keyword-driven SEO content, this role may differ from your expertise.

• Client-facing confidence with excellent spoken and written English: articulate, fluent, and professional when leading live video calls with senior stakeholders based in the US. If you prefer communicating solely through email and avoiding video interactions, this position may not be a fit.

• B2B tech fluency: you comprehend the B2B buyer's landscape and can convey technical concepts in accessible language.

• Strategic independence: when provided with a dataset or a broad topic, you are capable of developing the angle, structure, and narrative independently. Detailed outlines and ongoing guidance are not part of the workflow.

• A bonus, though not mandatory: experience at a research firm (Forrester, Gartner, IDC, or mid-tier equivalents), B2B content or research agency experience, data or investigative journalism, in-house content marketing where you managed both strategy and execution, or involvement in survey design and methodology work.
