This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +12 more states.
• Reporting to the Senior Director of Research Operations, you will manage essential elements of financial management for sponsored programs, encompassing intricate reporting, audit readiness, compliance oversight, and system optimization.
• You will act as a reliable partner to Finance, Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA), and research leadership, while also providing mentorship to junior analysts and advocating for continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead the preparation and review of complex financial reports, reconciliations, and analyses related to sponsored programs.
• Oversee the management of financial activities for BMC and PVLSI, including the coordination of year-end audit documentation.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and sponsor regulations by proactively monitoring and implementing updates to workflows.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in Lawson Grants Management, ensuring system integrity, troubleshooting issues, and promoting enhancements.
• Manage invoicing, cash draws, and accounts receivable, guaranteeing timely billing and collection.
• Prepare, review, and submit journal entries, budget adjustments, and financial corrections.
• Collaborate with Accounting, SPA, and internal teams to ensure timely setup, maintenance, and closeout of activities.
• Identify and spearhead process improvement initiatives to bolster efficiency, scalability, and accuracy in reporting.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to Research Financial Analysts (I & II), nurturing a culture of accountability and professional growth.
• Support and lead change management initiatives aimed at enhancing financial operations and consistency.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline is required.
• 5-7 years of progressive experience in research finance, sponsored programs, or grants administration is mandatory.
• Strong proficiency with Lawson financial systems and Grants Management modules.
• Experience in supporting audit preparation and compliance reviews.
• Knowledge of federal and state grant regulations, Uniform Guidance, and audit requirements.
• Leadership & Team Development: Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Expertise in sponsored program accounting, budgeting, and compliance.
• Ability to analyze trends, pinpoint risks, and propose solutions to support organizational objectives.
• Capacity to advocate for process improvements and adapt to changing regulatory and operational requirements.
