This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create imaging products for end-users derived from Muon's infrared imaging missions, encompassing both the FireSat Initial Operating Capability (IOC) and the Space-Based Environmental Monitoring (SBEM) program.
• Investigate, design, and implement scalable algorithms for image mosaicking, orthorectification, and radiometric normalization of multispectral infrared imagery.
• Serve as the product owner for essential customer-facing imagery products within the SBEM and FireSat programs.
• Author and maintain both technical and customer-oriented design documents for imagery products, ensuring consistency between internal capabilities and external stakeholder expectations.
• Interact with customer technical stakeholders through Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), addressing customer inquiries, and participating in program meetings.
• Develop production-ready code that integrates into customer-facing data product pipelines and operational services.
• Ensure the scientific quality, quantitative validation, and integrity of Orthomosaic Tile products across both wildfire and SBEM missions.
• Collaborate across functions with software engineers, calibration scientists, and instrument engineers to design, build, and sustain operational data product services.
• Acquire knowledge on new topics as required (e.g., sensor geometry and characterization, georeferencing techniques, wildfire and environmental monitoring applications, cloud-native geospatial data engineering).
• PhD with over 3 years of industry experience; or MS with more than 6 years of industry experience; or BS with 8+ years of industry experience.
• More than 5 years of experience in developing geospatial data products from remote sensing data.
• Practical experience with image mosaicking, orthorectification, or related geospatial image processing methodologies.
• Experience handling real-world data from innovative or emerging imaging instruments.
• Familiarity with standard geospatial data formats and tools (e.g., Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF, XArray, GDAL).
• Strong skills in Python-based development and analysis.
• Capability to write and effectively communicate technical design documents and product specifications.
• Ability to collaborate with a distributed, interdisciplinary team (scientists, engineers, data support).
