
Senior Relay Field Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Conduct testing and routine maintenance on Transmission and Distribution substation power equipment.
• Accurately read and interpret substation schematics.
• Assist in the development of procedures and/or test plans.
• Execute testing, which includes verifying voltage and current inputs to relays, checking metering, and calibrating relays.
• Carry out routine troubleshooting and repairs of substation relaying and control equipment.
• Commission new substations and power apparatus.
• Plan, schedule, and efficiently complete test activities.
• Provide technical support for projects to Field Service personnel.
• A minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing, and repairing substation relaying and control systems.
• Experience in substation design, including protection and control engineering.
• Background in substation construction.
• Familiarity with substation commissioning processes.
• Experience with SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing.
• Knowledge of three-phase power systems and power system protection and control schemes.
• Proficient in using test equipment and tools as well as wiring practices.
• Strong skills in interpreting wiring and elementary diagrams.
• Basic testing skills necessary to perform the aforementioned duties.
• Basic proficiency with personal computers.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading and writing.
